The PLP was launched with a workshop on the 8th November in London. The workshop gave the peers a chance to make a face-to-face connection with one another, and also meet the INTRAC staff facilitating the programme.
Rupal Mistry (Comic Relief), Raj Patel (INTRAC) and Cornelius Murombedzi (INTRAC) introduced the aims and the provisional workplan for the PLP, and peers discussed the role of the consultation group and had a chance to ask questions. The Comic Relief ‘advocacy encounters’ programme was also introduced as a complementary initiative to the PLP.
Michael Battcock, from DFID’s Civil Society Department, officially launched the programme, saying: ‘I’m very pleased to launch the programme…I can truly say that this is the most thorough learning programme I’ve ever seen attached to such an initiative.’
